Last nights win over Unirea has come at a price it now seems with Martin Skrtel suffering a suspected broken toe.
Skrtel picked up the injury in the 66th minute and Benitez is not too confident that the news from the doctors will be good,
“I think Martin Skrtel maybe has a broken toe and I have to check with the doctor. We will have to check but I don’t think it’s good news for us.”
At least last nights performance on what can best be described as a terrible pitch was a winning one even if the game was far from easy as Benitez explained,
“I think it was a difficult game and the pitch was terrible so we knew it could be tough and very demanding for the players.
“We conceded a goal and we then had to be calm and just keep playing our game.
“They have good deliveries from set-pieces and it was difficult to defend but then we scored our goal and scored again from a set-piece. At the end of the day we knew it could be like this tonight.”
So we are through as we predicted yesterday but the price could be a high one with Skrtel looking very likely to be sidelined for a few weeks.
